We offer a rich, integrated program, using the Core Knowledge Scope and Sequence, that provides children with the necessary skills, content, and context they need in order to be life-long learners. Specific content will cover a broad, liberal arts spectrum that is integrated throughout the daily schedule in creative, intentional ways.

Our program also has a data-driven focus on student performance and achievement, and a culturally-responsive instructional approach that is sensitive to the specific learning needs of boys and girls. A year-round schedule and extended day program give students a supportive and enriching environment for learning. We also stress remediation in order to address any skills, content, or background knowledge children may lack when they enter our school.

Our academic program has received official Program Certification by the American Academy of Liberal Education (AALE), certifying the quality of design and academic rigor.

Our Single-Sex Educational Approach

An increasing body of evidence points to the distinct ways boys’ and girls’ brains develop and are structured. These differences affect how successfully children learn in an educational setting. Research conducted by psychologist and family physician Leonard Sax reveals that traditional co-ed schools fail to account for the learning differences of boys and girls. Briefly summarized, boys and girls often have different motivators to learn as well as different learning styles. Treating boys and girls exactly the same, as is the case in most traditional co-ed schools, does an educational disservice to both groups in the long run, leading to learning gaps and lower academic performance across the board.

At Imagine Southeast, students are separated by sex starting in the 1st grade. This creates a Dual-Academy, single-sex instructional environment that allows teachers to tailor their classes to the different needs of boys and girls in ways that co-ed educational settings cannot. Our approach eliminates social distractions that hinder academic performance and good behavior, adapts instruction to best motivate and teach boys and girls, and opens up typically “non-traditional” subjects and activities for boys and girls to pursue, all to the benefit of both genders.
